Plain-language definitions of the networking terms used in Isothrum.
- Container
- A lightweight, isolated process with its own filesystem and network, started from an image such as nginx or alpine.
- Network lab
- A small, disposable network of machines built to practise, test or teach, which you can break and rebuild at will.
- Subnet (CIDR block)
- A range of IP addresses that forms one network, written in CIDR notation such as 10.200.0.0/29.
- Virtual machine (VM)
- A complete emulated computer with its own kernel and operating system, such as Debian, Kali or Windows Server.
